Rohan

Rohan
You're holding a rather special 21st birthday party. Guests will be dangling from ropes, and hanging on every word from well-known speakers. You want it recorded in an unobtrusive way, not only for posterity but also to help launch a new customer-focused website.

This is the brief that Snowline were handed by Rohan, the renowned clothing company who celebrated 21 years in the Lake District in February 2009. From shooting Rohan's passionate customers on an exhilarating via ferrata course during the day, to filming David Bellamy on stage in the evening, Snowline recorded the thoughts and feelings of patrons and staff alike, as well as the (somewhat soggy) majesty of the English Lake District.

Rohan's customer events were so successful that only 6 months later another was organised, this time in the grounds of Dunster Castle in North Devon. We were asked along again to conduct and film a series of interviews with staff, speakers and customers and in the evening film the talks from Monty Don, Leo Dickinson and Alastair MacDonald.

"The videos are great. Compulsive viewing. Keep them coming, please."

Rab

Rab & Podsacs
We've recently been commissioned by outdoor clothing and equipment manufacturer Rab, to produce a series of films. The work was shown on tv screens on Rab's stand at the outdoor trade show ISPO in Munich in the beginning of February. The work consisted of a series of interviews with the founder of the company, Rab Carrington and some of the clothing and equipment designers. We also filmed some ice and rock climbing sequences for the final 15 min film. We'll post the videos here very soon!

Cotswold Outdoor

Cotswold Outdoor - The Knowledge Videos
Outdoor clothing and equipment requires specialist knowledge. This essential information is easy to impart in a conventional retail environment, but that’s not so easy on the web. How can you show people how to avoid blisters, or what features to look for when choosing a climbing rope?

Britain's leading outdoor retailer, Cotswold Outdoor, teamed up with us to produce a series of advice videos to show the depth of expertise that the company has, and to impart some of that knowledge to its online customers. The films were so successful that a second series was commissioned just three months after the first programmes aired on their website. The examples below are from the recently launched third series on hillwalking. To view the complete collection visit: Cotswold Outdoor's website.

Cotswold Outdoor - Tent videos
We've been producing a series of tent videos for Cotswold for the last four years. We're responsible for the entire production of these 30 short videos for each of the tents in their range, from location finding to export onto DVD and as online files.

The Yacht Department

The Yacht Department
We were lucky enough make several short films onboard 'Questar', an amazing 'Swan 44' yacht, in Plymouth harbour. The skipper Phil Cooper wanted some films for the company website to help visualise what chartering a boat like this is all about and to help promote the courses The Yacht Department run. So we came up with some ideas and shot a race day with a full crew onboard, coupled with interviews with Phil and a film presented by Jason Bailey who undertook a day sailing on the RYA Competent Crew course onboard Questar.

Catlin Arctic Survey

The Catlin Arctic Survey
An incredible project, which hopes to answer one of the most important environmental questions of our time: how long will the Arctic Ocean's sea ice cover remain a permanent feature of our planet?

We worked with the CAS team to produce a short film about the expedition and its objectives, which features on the expedition's home page. In addition to this, we conducted a series of interviews with the team members, and the developers of the unique data collection and communication technology.

Now in it's second year, the Catlin Arctic Survey continues into 2010, we've recently finished producing this short promotional film to explain what this years expedition is all about.

Rudolf Stein

Rudolf Stein - Life's Not Fair...
We made a short film for Rudolf Stein of their photo shoot taking place at Holborn Studios in London, for a new Fair trade clothing range they are launching called Life's not fair... The film will be used on their new website and on tv screens at trade shows.

Commonwealth Women’s Antarctic Expedition

The Commonwealth Women's Antarctic Expedition

The women from Brunei, Cyprus, Ghana and Jamaica will be the first from their nation to ski to the South Pole. Those from India, Singapore and New Zealand will be the first women from their country to do so.

We are producing a documentary about the project and have recently returned from the expedition's training and selection in Norway.

Special Delivery - 13 mins
In the summer of 2007, Snowline travelled to the Indian Himalaya to shoot the short film, ‘Special Delivery’, a dramatisation based on a true story. Special Delivery is the account of a box belonging to a Zanskari that is taken on a journey past some of the highest mountains on Earth. The film follows the owner as he drives the box to his home, where its secret is revealed. It was shot on location in the Himalaya. It premiered at the Apple Store in London, and has been shown at film festivals on both sides of the Atlantic, including the Cannes Short Film Corner and the Kendal Mountain Film Festival.

We produced a film for broadcast in June 2009 in the French Pyrenees. A short documentary about an amazing passage through a rock face cut into the mountainside, written and presented by Paul Deegan.

Maison Willert
Beautifully situated in Lescun in the French Pyrenees, Maison Willert is a 150 year old stone cottage. We were asked to make a short promotional film about the rental property.§

The Royal Geographical Society
Now in its fourth decade, 'Explore' is a unique event for expedition leaders and field scientists. The 250 delegates have access to 100 outdoor experts and dozens of presentations which cover every geographical region from Antarctica to Everest. We worked with the Geography Outdoors team at the Royal Geographical Society to create a video to show potential delegates what Explore is all about, and how to get the most out of the weekend. In addition, we suggested and subsequently produced a series of interviews with several of the experts so that their knowledge could be shared with the Society's web-based audience.
